Cookie Information
The GMI Group may use “cookies” or similar devices to track your activities on this Site. A cookie is small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a web server and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. It functions as your identification card and enables The GMI Group to record your passwords, purchases, and preferences. It cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. We use cookies and other technologies to study traffic patterns on the Site and to customize your experience each time you interact with us. The GMI Group does not generally use this information to identify you personally. However, if you expressly provide consent for the Site or the Product Service to "remember" you when you register on the Site or for the Product Services, that unique identifier will be stored on a cookie on your computer and will be linked to your Registration Information. Cookies are not optional for some web pages requiring authorization, users choosing not to accept cookies or similar devices will probably not be able to access those pages or related Product Services.
Beacon Information
Like most Web sites, this Site gathers certain information and stores it in log files automatically. This information may include internet protocol addresses, browser type, operating system, date/time stamp, internet service providers, referring or exit pages, and clickstream data. This Site may use an assistive process known as “Pixel-Tags” to augment this type of data collection. A Pixel-Tag is a tiny graphic image embedded in a web page or email which is used to track when the page or email has been viewed. This device is similar to a cookie in that it tracks your visit and the data can only be read by the server that receives the data. It is different than a cookie in that it is not browser-based, may not function as an identification card, and does not store any data on your computer. GMI uses this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, administer the site and to gather demographic information.
Clickstream Information
A “Clickstream” is a record of a user's activity at the Site. Pixel-Tags and other technologies are used to facilitate Clickstreams at this Site and in some e-mails from the Site. This GMI Group Site gathers Clickstream data and stores it in log files automatically. This data aids in tracking site activity but does not contain any PII. When a user clicks on a Site link or link within an e-mail from the Site, Clickstream data is passed through our web servers and logged before arriving at the destination web page. If you prefer not to be tracked simply avoid clicking text or graphic links in the Site e-mail or Site pages. Alternatively, a user may manually enter any destination to the Site into a web browser to bypass Clickstream data collection, however the web server may still log internet protocol addresses, browser type, operating system, date/time stamp, internet service providers, of the user and referring locations of the page accessed.
Premalignant Conditions
As a public service, The GMI Group wants everyone to be conscious of the obvious. PII is everywhere. When you receive mail at your home or business, on the front of the envelope for anyone to access, your address, your PII. As if that isn't enough, anyone can go into any U.S. Post Office and submit a change of address from anywhere to anywhere using no PII and thereby obtain anyone’s PII. Can you say "identity theft"?
Informational Apocalypse
And then there are credit card companies and governments which retain hundreds of billions of records in which countless versions of your PII is potentially available to any number of individuals who show up to work every Monday morning with no other cause than to scarf a paycheck (and anything else) by the end of the week. How many such employees have access to your PII at those locales? From a retail clerk at a coffee shop, to the bank teller, to the personnel at the church you may attend; all of these may have potentially unfettered access to your PII. There are many more examples, but you have been made aware...
GMI's Commitment
The GMI Group takes protecting your privacy very seriously. To make sure your PII is secure, we communicate these guidelines to all GMI Group personnel and strictly enforce privacy safeguards within the organization itself. For example, only two GMI Corporate Officers have access to servers containing your PII. In addition, GMI supports industry initiatives ‒ such as the Online Privacy Alliance ‒ to preserve privacy rights on the Internet and in all aspects of electronic commerce. GMI also abides by the U.S. Department of Commerce Privacy Shield Framework regarding the collection, use, and retention of PII. The GMI Group does not knowingly solicit PII from minors or send them requests for PII.
Additional Information
If you have any additional questions or concerns about The GMI Group's Privacy Policy or data retention, or if you believe that The GMI Group has not complied with this Privacy Policy with respect to your PII, you may write to the The GMI Group Privacy Officer (the “GMI Group PO”) at the address found on the ContactUs page. In your letter, please describe any concerns or in as much detail as possible the ways in which you believe that The GMI Group's Privacy Policy has not been adhered to or complied with. Serious inquiries will contain your PII such as the type aggregated on the Site. We will investigate your concerns promptly and you will receive acknowledgment of how any issues or concerns were resolved only at the completion of our investigation or resolution.
